Morocco’s Auto Sales Surge 15% in February, Boosting 2020 Outlook

The latest statistics from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco reveal a good economic health of the sector at the end of February 2020.
After experiencing a drop in performance in January, the automotive sector quickly regained its footing in February, with a nice improvement. In February, 13,333 units (passenger cars + light commercial vehicles) were sold, an increase of 15.45% compared to the same period last year. If we look at the cumulative total for the first two months of the year, 25,837 vehicles were registered, an increase of 6.77% compared to 2019, according to the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco.
As for passenger cars, they represent the bulk of last month’s sales volume, with 11,804 units sold, an increase of 15.43%. As for the light commercial vehicle segment, 1,529 units were sold, an increase of 15.57%.
In the passenger car category, Dacia takes the lead with 3,596 units sold. As for Renault, it maintains the second position on the podium with 1,158 registered cars. For its part, Peugeot achieved an excellent score with 1,082 units sold.
In the luxury car category, Mercedes takes the lead of the podium with 208 cars sold, despite a decline of -11.86% compared to the same period last year. BMW lines up in second place with 163 models sold (-15.98%). The Audi brand, with 151 cars sold, performed well in February 2019, an increase of 10.22%.
As for Ford, it had an excellent month with 224 cars sold, followed by DFSK with 198 units sold. Dacia takes the third step of the podium with 176 registrations.
