Thierry Charvet, Renault Group’s head of industry, quality and procurement, visited the Melloussa plant with Philippe Brunet, the automaker’s chief technology officer. The aim was to assess the site’s capabilities ahead of the next stages of a strategic automotive program.

“At Tangier, we are laying the foundations for the industrialization of our future key vehicle for Dacia and Renault Group,” Thierry Charvet said, according to Romanian daily Ziarul Financiar.

In the workshops, engineers responsible for the vehicle and its production processes work directly with manufacturing teams. New suppliers are joining the local network. The plant already produces more than 1,000 vehicles a day on two lines, monitored in real time by the Plant Connect digital system.

Moroccan engineers prepare for the transition to production

Philippe Brunet highlighted the role of Renault Technology Morocco: its teams seek technical solutions, contribute to cost and quality control, and then support the transition from development to manufacturing. During his visit, the executive assessed how ready the teams were for upcoming industrial milestones.

According to Profit.ro, the program concerns the fourth-generation Sandero. It builds on Renault’s investment in future electrified models in Morocco.

On June 24, Mohamed Bachiri, CEO of Renault Group Maroc, had told Economica.net that preparations for this generation were underway, with hybrid and electric versions and industrial production expected to begin between late 2027 and early 2028.

The preparations also concern the future electric Sandero, which has been discussed since 2025. Renault Technology Morocco already has a presence inside the Melloussa plant and another site at Tétouan Shore, dedicated to technology professions: two teams set to support the program’s next stages.
