Remains of Missing Lyon Teen Found in Building Pipes; Suspect Arrested

A 28-year-old man with psychiatric disorders was arrested and then jailed after the discovery of the human remains of Mohamed, 17, in the pipes of a building in Saint-Priest, near Lyon. The victim’s family had reported the teenager’s disappearance to the authorities on January 15.
Leaving the house on January 13 to go to his workplace in Corbas, Mohamed, a 17-year-old living in Lyon with his family, will no longer give any sign of life. Worried, his mother had reported his "mysterious disappearance" to the authorities on January 15. On Tuesday, the minor’s human remains were discovered by a service company that came to unblock the pipes of an apartment building, at the request of a resident. "Hands, a foot or pieces of flesh were found in these pipes. An electric saw would also have been found" near the building, reports the site Lyon Mag.
The next day, investigators arrested a 28-year-old man, suspected of the minor’s murder. He will spend 48 hours in custody, before being brought before the court on Friday. On Saturday, the Lyon prosecutor’s office announced that the suspect, whose criminal record "does not bear any mention of any conviction" and who "has been followed for psychiatric disorders for several years", has been indicted for voluntary homicide and placed in pre-trial detention. He is being prosecuted as part of an investigation on a charge of voluntary homicide.
"The investigations will continue under a commission of inquiry, under the authority of an investigating judge, in order to determine the exact circumstances and the motive for this act," the prosecutor’s office adds.
