EU Recognizes Morocco’s Covid-19 Certificates, Easing Travel for Moroccans

Traveling to European Union countries will now be easier for Moroccan nationals. The European Commission decided on Wednesday that the Covid-19 certificates issued by Morocco are compliant with those of the European Union (EU).
Good news for Moroccan nationals and foreigners who have received their health pass in Morocco. This decision makes Morocco the only African and Arab country to have such status within the European Union.
"For the purpose of facilitating the exercise of the right to free movement within the Union, the Covid-19 vaccination and test certificates issued by the Kingdom of Morocco in accordance with the SGC’Cov system are considered equivalent to those issued in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2021/953," reports the MAP.
The Commission adds that the Kingdom is connected to the EU Digital Covid Certificate trust framework established by Regulation (EU) 2021/953. The decision of Brussels comes after technical tests carried out by the European Commission, thus making it possible to verify the authenticity, validity and integrity of the vaccination certificates issued in Morocco.
According to the same decision, Morocco has informed the European Commission that it accepts the vaccination, test and recovery certificates issued by the EU Member States and the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA).
