US Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Reforms During High-Level Dialogue

As part of the "long-standing and permanent dialogue" between the United States and Morocco, a Moroccan delegation has been visiting the United States since Wednesday. Washington took advantage of this high-level visit to reiterate its support for the reforms underway in the country.
This is the "tenth meeting of a dialogue that has been going on for more than a decade," a statement from the US diplomacy noted, stressing that "Morocco is a close partner of the United States."
In this regard, the State Department recalled that within the framework of the partnership between the two countries, Rabat and Washington regularly discuss "a variety of issues, including the promotion of human rights."
Among the latter is also "how we can work together to advance King Mohammed VI’s reform agenda on issues such as freedom of expression and association, criminal justice reforms, women’s rights and gender equality, and government transparency," the department specifies.
It adds that "in this context, we are seeking to identify concrete and achievable reforms that we can advance together."
