US Army Chief Visits Morocco to Advance Defense Cooperation Roadmap

Army General James McConville, Chief of Staff of the United States Army, is working to implement the roadmap signed between Rabat and Washington as part of defense cooperation. He was on an official visit to Morocco last week.
During this visit, Army General James McConville and senior Moroccan officials including Abdellatif Loudiyi, Delegate Minister in charge of National Defense Administration and Abdelfattah Louarak, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) discussed the implementation of the "roadmap for defense cooperation" between the United States and Morocco, reports Assabah. Signed between the two parties in 2020, this roadmap aims to modernize the Moroccan army and guide efforts to more effectively address regional threats together.
Another topic discussed: Morocco’s annual participation in more than 100 military exercises with the United States, including African Lion, the largest annual military exercise in Africa. "The meeting with our long-standing and highly competent partners in Morocco allowed us to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation on common priorities such as training, professional military schools and the development of non-commissioned officers," said James McConville.
