The United States reiterates its support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in the Sahara issue. For Washington, it is the most "serious, credible and realistic" plan.
The Sahara issue "is a priority for Moroccans and we are engaged with the United Nations in order to advance a political solution," said a senior U.S. official in Washington.
When asked whether the United States supports the expansion of MINURSO’s mandate to cover human rights, he affirmed that his country supports the mandate of the UN mission as recently renewed by the Security Council for a period of 12 months.
