Rabat Police Arrest 33 for Illegal Street Racing During COVID Curfew

The curfew is the moment chosen by individuals to do a car rodeo in the streets of Rabat. The police, on health emergency alert, put an end to it and proceeded to arrests. There are 33 people who were apprehended and held in custody.
The scene described by a statement from the DGSN, reported by the MAP, took place in the university district of Al Irfane, in Hay Riad and in Yaacoub Mansour. These individuals, after a night of drinking, decided to defy the curfew by organizing a drift, thus threatening the safety of road users.
Fortunately, the police patrols in charge of enforcing the state of health emergency measures and organizing traffic in Rabat were on the alert to avoid the worst.
The drivers were placed in custody as part of the judicial investigations carried out by the competent judicial police, while the seized vehicles were impounded at the disposal of the investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the statement concluded.
