US Pushes for More Arab States to Normalize Ties with Israel, Kushner Says

Jared Kushner, son-in-law and senior advisor to US President Donald Trump, hopes that Morocco and the other 21 Arab countries will follow in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates in normalizing their relations with Israel.

"I think it makes sense for them [the 22 Arab states] to do it and I think it’s the right thing to do over time. (...) I think thanks to the leaders of the UAE, there will be a much larger coalition. [There will be] what I call an ’absolute majority’ that will be in favor of normalization. I think the small minority that opposed it will become more and more isolated in the region," he said in an interview with the Emirati news agency WAM.

Kushner is convinced that another country will normalize its relations with Israel in the coming months. For him, anything can happen, but the reality is that many people already envy the decision made by the United Arab Emirates. "We don’t solve problems by not talking to each other. So normalizing relations and allowing interpersonal and commercial exchanges will only make the Middle East stronger and more stable," says the senior US official.

The senior advisor to the US president undertook a tour last week with Israel, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and possibly Morocco next on the itinerary. His wish is for these countries to normalize their relations with Israel.
