Moroccan Groups Protest Jared Kushner’s Visit Amid Normalization Concerns

Several associations, political parties, academic figures, and trade unions in Morocco have expressed their opposition through a petition to the announcement of the arrival of Jared Kushner, special advisor to Donald Trump.
"Palestine is neither for sale nor for barter." This is the title of the initiative aimed at countering "the American and Zionist media campaign on a new visit by Jared Kushner to Morocco and attempts by Washington and the Zionist entity to push Morocco into the circle of normalization." The authors of the petition have made it known that Moroccans reject "the unfortunate visit of this person" and consider "unacceptable" the presence of the special advisor to President Donald Trump on Moroccan soil.
The petition has received the support of several bodies, including the traditional associations in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle and against normalization with Israel, the Unity and Reform Movement, the three parties of the Democratic Left Federation, the National Union of the Moroccan Press, the Democratic Confederation of Labor, the Moroccan Labor Union, and the Instance of Support for the Causes of the Ummah.
After a tour of Tel Aviv and some Arab countries, Jared Kushner also visited the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar. It should be recalled that Trump’s special advisor had already been received by King Mohammed VI on May 28, 2019 in Salé, where the two personalities had discussed, among other things, "the strengthening of the old, solid and multidimensional strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, as well as the developments and changes taking place in the North Africa and Middle East region."
