PSG: Luis Enrique doesn’t forget Azzedine Ounahi

Struck by the performance of Azzedine Ounahi after Spain’s defeat against Morocco at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Spanish coach Luis Enrique wanted the PSG to recruit the OM midfielder during the 2023 summer transfer window. But the French club’s priorities were elsewhere.
"I was pleasantly surprised by number 8. I can’t remember his name, I’m sorry... (the press whispers Ounahi’s name and he continues) My God, where does this guy come from? He’s really good! He surprised me," Luis Enrique, then Spain’s coach, had said at a press conference after the Roja’s elimination by Morocco (0-0, 3-0 on penalties) in the World Cup round of 16 in Qatar. Months later, the current PSG Spanish coach still remembers the Moroccan international and even wanted the Parisian club to recruit him during the summer transfer window that closed on September 1.
Luis Enrique is said to have contacted Azzedine Ounahi’s entourage, to whom he expressed his interest in the OM midfielder, who wants to get playing time this season, reports L’Équipe. Meanwhile, the PSG management was prioritizing offensive targets. They were very focused on the Barcola and Kolo Muani cases. As a result, the Parisian club did not make a move. Maybe in the winter transfer window?
