PSG’s Achraf Hakimi Set to Break Moroccan Champions League Appearance Record

Moroccan international defender Achraf Hakimi is on the verge of reaching a historic milestone in the European Champions League. Following Paris Saint-Germain’s qualification for the semi-finals of the competition, Hakimi is about to surpass Hakim Ziyech in the number of matches played in this prestigious tournament.
Currently tied with 45 appearances each, Hakimi has the opportunity to take over this record in the upcoming matches against Borussia Dortmund. His performance in the first leg against FC Barcelona has reinforced his status as an undisputed starter in PSG’s defense, which suggests his presence on the field during the semi-finals, barring any unforeseen injury.
Hakimi’s Champions League journey has taken him through four different clubs: 25 appearances with Paris Saint-Germain, 5 with Inter Milan, 13 with Borussia Dortmund and 2 with Real Madrid. On the other hand, Ziyech has accumulated 45 matches with three clubs: 17 under the colors of Ajax Amsterdam, 23 with Chelsea and 5 with Galatasaray.
Considered one of the best right-backs of his generation, Hakimi already has an impressive career, while Ziyech has been struggling to establish himself within Galatasaray, and it is even rumored that he could leave the club at the end of the season.
