Fabio Capello Blames Achraf Hakimi for PSG's Champions League Exit

Fabio Capello accuses Achraf Hakimi of having contributed to the elimination of Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund (0-2, first leg and return). For the former Real Madrid coach, the Moroccan defender did not live up to expectations in these crucial matches.

Capello blames Achraf Hakimi for not raising his level of play in the first and second leg matches of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund, going so far as to say that the Moroccan defender is the main reason for PSG’s elimination from the European competition. "On the wings, Achraf Hakimi, accompanied by Ousmane Dembélé, did not deliver what Paris Saint-Germain expected in a crucial match like the one he played in the Champions League semi-finals," said the Italian coach in an interview with the Win Win site.

The former Real Madrid coach believes that "Achraf Hakimi failed to have any significant impact on the sides, his contributions on the right side were disastrous". Against Borussia Dortmund, the Atlas Lion "did not make any dangerous crosses", he asserts. And to add: "Luis Enrique should have intervened and made early changes, when he brought on faster players in the second half, we saw a different Paris Saint-Germain, but with Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembélé, the team was extremely slow".
