Real Madrid Eyes Achraf Hakimi Return from PSG to Bolster Defense
Real Madrid is working for a return of Achraf Hakimi to the Santiago Bernabéu. The Madrid club sees the Moroccan defender of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as the ideal profile to strengthen the team in replacement of Lucas Vázquez, whose contract is expiring and awaiting renewal.
Achraf Hakimi would make a good duo with Dani Carvajal on the right side. This is at least the perfect combination that Real Madrid is looking for to inject new momentum into the defense. The Madrid club’s management is ready to do everything possible to secure the services of the Moroccan international, whose contract with PSG runs until 2026.
"He is a player we love, who is in our sights and who suits Real because he is one of the best in the world in his position, due to his versatility, and because he is a fan of Real Madrid. Moreover, and this is perhaps the most important, he fits into the club’s policy of seeking players who have a fairly favorable contractual situation [...] The timing is right. I don’t think he can leave PSG in 2025 because his future would be at Real Madrid. We would have to wait until 2026. It’s difficult," comments journalist Mario Cortegana for Fichajes.
The merengue club is counting on Kylian Mbappé, Hakimi’s friend and former teammate, to convince him to return to Madrid. The Atlas Lion is a key player in Luis Enrique’s system. The 25-year-old player is thriving under the Spanish coach at the Parc des Princes, after delivering remarkable performances with Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.
