PSG's Achraf Hakimi Extends Contract Through 2029

On the sidelines of PSG’s victory over Monaco (4-1), the Parisian club officially announced the contract extension of Achraf Hakimi. Arrived in 2021 from Inter Milan, the Moroccan right-back is now tied to Paris Saint-Germain until June 2029.

This announcement, expected for several weeks, confirms Hakimi’s central role within PSG. Promoted to vice-captain this season, he is a key element of Luis Enrique’s system.

The extension also puts an end, for the moment, to the speculation about a possible return of Hakimi to Real Madrid, his training club. The newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports that the Madrid club did indeed attempt an approach last October, following the injury of Dani Carvajal.

However, according to the same source, Real Madrid was quickly informed that Hakimi had already given his verbal agreement to PSG for a contract extension. The agreement, reached as early as October, was formalized last week.

The financial aspect of this extension is the subject of discussions. Hakimi’s annual net salary would have increased from 10 to 14 million euros, making him the best-paid full-back in the world. However, L’Équipe estimated, in a recent study, Hakimi’s annual gross salary at 8.8 million euros. An increase is likely, but its exact extent remains uncertain.
