Galatasaray Set to Activate Purchase Option for Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech should continue his career at Galatasaray. The Turkish club would plan to activate the purchase option included in the loan contract of the Moroccan striker from Chelsea.

Ziyech arrived at Galatasaray last August on loan from Chelsea with a purchase option. After the long absence of the Moroccan winger due to repeated injuries, the Turkish club now seems satisfied with his performances and would consider signing the Atlas Lion permanently this summer, according to Evening Standard.

In January, Galatasaray had mentioned the possibility of terminating the loan contract of the 31-year-old player. But Ziyech’s decisive contribution to the club’s rise in the Turkish Super Lig has ultimately convinced the management to activate the purchase option for the Moroccan international. Currently, Galatasaray is leading the Turkish championship, with a six-point lead over Fenerbahce, second. Ziyech and his teammates still have three games to play before the end of the season, including a classic against Fenerbahce scheduled for May 19.

This season, the Atlas Lion has scored eight goals in 21 appearances with Galatasaray. He has scored 14 in 107 appearances for Chelsea, the club with which he won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. The Blues paid £34 million to Ajax to recruit Ziyech in 2020. The London club hopes to profit from the sale of the Moroccan winger during the summer transfer window.
