Pregnant Woman Rescued in Spain After Alleged Domestic Abuse by Husband

Local police officers in San Javier (Murcia) arrested on Saturday a 38-year-old Moroccan, accused of a crime of gender-based violence against his pregnant wife.
The woman alerted the neighbors that she was locked up with her 1-year-old daughter in her apartment and that she had been assaulted by her husband. "The woman was very nervous and kept shouting for help. She said she was very afraid that her husband would come back to hit her again, and that she had been abused for many years," the local police officers said.
Once freed, the woman, who bore marks of violence on her neck and lips, informed the agents that she was pregnant. Health workers were then dispatched to the scene with an ambulance to ensure she was doing well, reports La Verdad.
As for the victim’s husband, he was informed by telephone of the situation, and as soon as he arrived at the apartment, he was arrested by the Civil Guard.
