Moroccan Man Arrested in Madrid for Domestic Abuse and Drugging Family

The Madrid police arrested on Tuesday a 47-year-old Moroccan man for mistreating and drugging his 41-year-old Moroccan wife and their two children aged 10 and 13, in an apartment located in the Villaverde Alto neighborhood.
The Moroccan was arrested after a neighbor alerted the police to his confrontation with his young son, police sources told Europa Press. When they arrived on the scene, the agents exchanged with the Moroccan, who told them that he had had a violent argument with his wife. These statements were confirmed by the victim, who said she had been attacked on the head by the accused, who is a repeat offender.

The woman adds that for weeks she has noticed a strange taste in the meals and tea they consume at home, but her husband had reassured her that everything was fine. Since then, her children and she have suffered from dizziness and indigestion. Based on these statements, the police searched the house and found psychotropic substances in a room to which only the husband had access.
For all these reasons, the Moroccan was arrested for a crime of gender-based violence and against health. The mother and her two children were, for their part, taken to the 12 de Octubre hospital where they underwent tests. As of the latest news, they are safe and sound, but traces of psychotropic substances have been found in the blood of the two minors. The substance found has been sent to the Toxicology Institute for analysis.
