Moroccan Man Arrested in Spain for Alleged Kidnapping in Gijón Apartment

The Civil Guard arrested a 37-year-old Moroccan man who kidnapped a woman in his apartment in the coastal town of Gijón (Asturias).

A neighbor of the Moroccan alerted the Civil Guard after hearing a woman asking for help from the man’s apartment, located in the La Camocha neighborhood. The agents quickly rushed to the scene, but the 37-year-old Moroccan refused to let them enter the apartment to check on the health of the woman who would be detained against her will.

The agents had to break down the door to free the kidnapped woman, also 37 years old. She was fine and had no signs of injury. She tells the agents that she entered the house of her own free will, but that afterwards the Moroccan refused to let her leave. The latter was arrested for a crime of illegal detention, reports El Comercio.

A few months ago, in November, the local police in Gijón had arrested the same individual after being alerted by a woman who claimed to be detained against her will in a house. The young woman had also stated that she had arrived of her own free will, but that the Moroccan did not want to let her leave. The agents had intervened and managed to free the victim.

"We are already terrified, because there is not a week goes by where this man is involved in a case. He is an aggressive drug addict who creates various nuisances in the neighborhood, we are afraid he will harm someone," laments an anonymous neighbor "out of fear". The "continuous presence" of the Moroccan around the public school La Camocha, near his home, also raises concerns. He had already been arrested for a case related to a minor.
