Pregnant Woman Rescued from Well in Morocco, Authorities Investigate Possible Honor Crime

A young woman was rescued by tourists while she was in an abandoned well in the M’Hamid El Ghizlane region, in Boulmane.
Seriously injured, she was taken care of by the civil protection services and the royal gendarmerie before being transported to the regional hospital of Zagora, then to the Sidi Hsaine ben Naser hospital in Ouarzazate.
According to the first elements of the investigation reported by Al3omk, the victim would have been thrown into the well by an individual not yet identified. Family sources accuse the husband of the victim’s sister of being the perpetrator of this act. Other sources evoke an illegitimate relationship between the victim and the suspect, which would have resulted in an unwanted pregnancy.
The accused would have taken the victim and her mother to Tagounite before attacking her, in order to conceal the dishonor. An investigation is underway and the victim is currently under enhanced surveillance at the Sidi Hsaine hospital, on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office.
