Popular Moroccan Singer Cheikha Trax Faces Trial for Violating COVID-19 Restrictions

Released on bail, the popular singer Cheikha Trax will be required to appear before the court of first instance in Marrakech. Her trial is expected to open in the coming days.
Fatima Zahra, better known as Cheikha Trax, is being prosecuted while on provisional release for violating the state of health emergency. She had invited about forty people to her home on the occasion of her engagement to a Gulf national.
An event that could have gone unnoticed, if she had not had the idea to broadcast the ceremony live on social media. Alerted, the police services did not take long to raid the dancer’s home and arrest all the guests.
Later, the guests will be released after paying a fine of 300 dirhams, while Cheikha Trax and her mother were brought before the Attorney General and prosecuted while on provisional release.
