Medi1 TV Faces New Labor Lawsuit Over Alleged Unfair Dismissal

Wednesday 3 February 2021, by Kamal

The legal troubles of Medi1 TV never end. The television channel has just been attacked in the labor court by another employee, who claims to have been the victim of unfair dismissal.

A month after being ordered to pay 2.7 million dirhams to Youssef Belhaissi, the journalist fired for union activities, the Tangier-based channel has once again been summoned to court.

This time, it is a technical service employee who would be the victim of discriminatory treatment by the management. Back from a long sick leave, duly justified, the man was prohibited from returning to his service for abandonment of post. Victim of a work accident on June 26 last, the employee had, according to him, filed 3 medical certificates of unfitness.

The management of Medi1 TV would have refused to acknowledge receipt of the letter from the labor inspectorate, delivered by a bailiff, on the pretext that the plaintiff is not part of its staff, but rather of a temporary employment agency.
