Prominent Moroccan TV Anchor Appointed as Government Advisor Amid Media Shake-up

The journalist and star presenter of the national television channel Medi 1 TV, Youssef Belhaissi, has just been appointed Advisor to the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani.
News presenter on the channel for over a decade, Belhaissi was in charge of communication within the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights, reports the site Akhbarona.
Last July, while the Tangier channel was going through an unstable social climate, the journalist had been pushed out, following union disagreements. A series of events, including the grouping of radio and television personnel on the same site, had accentuated the internal tensions.
The staff representative, who accused the Médi1 management of making "unilateral decisions," would have been fired for his union activities, but also for his alleged "virulent" interventions on social networks, specifies the same source.
