Police Officer and Gendarme Arrested in Safi for International Drug Trafficking Ring

The National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) arrested on Sunday in Safi a police officer and a gendarme for their alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking network.
The policeman works at the Safi police station, while the gendarme is stationed at the port of the same city. The two agents were apprehended as part of a drug trafficking case, reports the daily Assabah.
In addition to the two agents, four individuals including a caterer, a café manager and two other people were also arrested as part of this case. They are all suspected of belonging to a criminal network specialized in international drug trafficking.
The case broke out after elements of the BNPJ, in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), intercepted at the port of Safi a vehicle transporting 2.1 tons of cannabis resin. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
