Massive Drug Bust in Morocco: 11.5 Tons of Cannabis Seized, 6 Suspects Arrested

A joint operation by the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) and the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) led to the arrest of six individuals suspected of being accomplices in international drug trafficking networks.
This series of arrests took place over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, in the regions of Mohammedia and El Jadida. In total, about 11.5 tons of cannabis resin were seized.
The first seizure took place on the highway connecting Bouznika to Mohammedia, where a vehicle transporting 4 tons and 168 kilograms of drugs was intercepted. The driver of the vehicle and an accomplice were apprehended at the entrance to the city of Ksar El Kébir. The investigators then expanded their search not far from Bir Jdid, where four other suspects were arrested. This operation also led to the discovery of an additional 7.4 tons of drugs, as well as the discovery of two "go fast" vehicles, boats and engines.
The suspects are currently in custody, at the disposal of the investigation led under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office. The investigation will have to determine the links between the arrested individuals and the ramifications at the national and international levels.
