Moroccan Police Officer Arrested in Drug Bust, Found with Cannabis and Illicit Pills

A police officer was arrested in flagrante delicto of drug possession during a security operation carried out in Salé in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The arrested police officer is a chief brigadier serving at the public security barracks in Rabat. He was arrested in possession of 1.5 kg of cannabis resin and a quantity of cannabis powder, as well as a sum of money suspected of coming from drug trafficking. During the searches carried out at his home in Salé, the investigators seized 1,442 medical tablets of different categories.
His arrest led to the opening by the prefectural judicial police service in Salé of a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to determine the ins and outs of this case and elucidate any possible ramifications of this criminal act. The examination of his file reveals that the accused had been the subject of various disciplinary measures during his professional career.
For the moment, the defendant has been placed in custody. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has decided on his provisional suspension. It will determine the administrative measures it will take against him after the end of the investigation.
