Pathé Unveils State-of-the-Art 24-Screen Multiplex in Casablanca

The French cinema giant, Pathé, is preparing to inaugurate an ultra-modern multiplex in Casablanca, on the Marjane Californie site.
This project experienced a three-year delay, but will finally see the light of day this December, reports Challenge. Pathé Californie, which required an investment of nearly 160 million dirhams, promises a cutting-edge cinematic experience with its 24 theaters equipped with the latest technology, including laser projection, giant screens, and "club" and "duo" seats for optimal comfort.
Covering 12,000 square meters, the multiplex is not limited to the cinema offering. It also includes community spaces.
Last week, during an intervention in parliament, the Minister of Culture, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, had announced an ambitious project to open 150 new cinemas across the country. Low-cost tickets are planned to encourage Moroccans, especially young people, to go to the cinema.
The minister had emphasized the importance of democratizing access to culture, criticizing the current market prices as a barrier to the attendance of cinemas and theaters by the Moroccan public. He also recalled that the majority of the films screened benefit from the support of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, while noting the limited number of cinemas in the country, currently only 25!
