Martin Scorsese Cancels Appearance at Marrakech Film Festival

The public of the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) will not see as expected the American director Martin Scorsese, the sponsor of the training section for new talents in the seventh art.
Martin Scorsese had to cancel his trip to the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) for personal reasons, according to sources from the organization cited by the EFE agency. The public will therefore not see again the sponsor of the Atlas Workshops, dedicated to the development of talents of young African and Arab filmmakers. The American director is a regular at the FIFM, where he has participated five times. At the 2018 edition, he had presented an honorary award to the American actor naturalized Italian Robert de Niro. The two men have worked together on several occasions.

Scorsese is among the greatest and most influential figures in contemporary cinema. To his credit, several projects such as "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", "The Last Temptation of Christ", "Goodfellas", "Gangs of New York", "The Color of Money", and "The Wolf of Wall Street". He also directed the film "The Departed", which earned him the Oscar for Best Director in 2007. His latest signature is "Killers of the Flower Moon", a film based on the true story of the massacre of the Osage indigenous nation in the United States.
Friday marked the opening of the 20th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), a major cinematographic event and an exchange between the public and the professionals of the 7th Art. On this occasion, a tribute ceremony was organized for the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, known for his participation in the films Pusher and Pusher 2, both directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and for the series Rejseholdet.
