Morocco Invests 5 Million Dirhams to Modernize and Expand Cinema Network

The revitalization and modernization of cinemas are a concern for the Moroccan authorities, who have decided to support the promotion of cinema. Thus, after examining the files submitted, five theaters were able to benefit from aid of nearly five million dirhams, according to the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM).
The Dawliz cinema in Meknes, with an amount of 623,803.00 DH, and the Mégarama Goya cinema in Tangier, with an amount of 1,000,000.00 DH, are the two theaters that have benefited from the modernization aid. As for the aid for creation, it is granted to the Mégarama cinema in Rabat with an amount of 2,200,000.00 dirhams. And as for the aid for digitization, the Mégarama Goya cinema in Tangier is selected, with a sum of 1,000,000 dirhams.
This support aims to consolidate transparency in terms of film promotion, to generalize the adoption of the electronic ticketing system and to strengthen distribution opportunities, while ensuring diversification of the offer and fighting against monopoly, reports aujourd’hui.ma.
It also aims to expand the network of cinemas and stimulate their attendance within the populations, specifies the same source.
