CineAtlas Expands: New Movie Theaters Coming to Tangier and El Jadida in 2020

After the Colisée in Rabat, the cinema complex is preparing to open new theaters in Tangier and El Jadida in 2020 and also plans to expand to other Moroccan cities. The challenge for the managers of the cinema complex is to encourage the population to reconnect with cinema attendance.
The CineAtlas of El Jadida should open in the second quarter of 2020, with three theaters, and that of Tangier, in the third quarter of 2020 with five theaters, an open-air terrace restaurant and a coffee-concert hall, reports HuffPost.
According to the producer, distributor and director of the CineAtlas Company, Pierre-François Bernet, everything is in place to please movie lovers.
The cinema in El Jadida, still at the project stage, will be built in a new 1,100 square meter building, located in a new commercial complex on the corniche, while the one in Tangier will be set in the former "Mauritania" cinema, located on the Prince Heir Avenue.
It is a real revolution announced in the sector as cinemas are planned in Casablanca, Kenitra, Larache, Meknes, Agadir and Laayoune.
According to the site, in Rabat, CineAtlas recorded 190,000 admissions in one year of operation between August 15, 2018 and August 14, 2019.
Despite the opening of new "Megarama" multiplexes in several cities of the Kingdom and a "Pathé" cinema, planned in Casablanca, Bernet is not afraid of competition, especially in the face of the enthusiasm of young Moroccans for cinema. "There are so few cinemas in Morocco that there is time before the competition really makes itself felt," he says.
