Parents Arrested for Fabricating Daughter’s Kidnapping in Morocco

It was at the Iferni gendarmerie station located in a rural commune under the province of Driouch, in Midar, not far from their home, that the two parents presented themselves, distraught, reporting the kidnapping of their daughter. According to the account given by the two plaintiffs, their fourteen-year-old daughter was kidnapped in front of them by two young men on board a vehicle. Immediately, a coordination between the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Midar, Driouch, Taza and Al Hoceima was put in place, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.

The gendarmerie elements learned that the missing girl had often been seen in the company of a young man. In the interest of strictly respecting the procedure in this type of case, a summons was sent to the latter, inviting him to present himself to them in the morning for a matter concerning him. But when he was defending himself against the accusations made against him in the disappearance of the young girl, she returned to her parents and received a summons in turn.

In front of her parents present during the interrogation, she assures that she has never been kidnapped. She claims to have spent the night with her boyfriend, and that she voluntarily got into the vehicle. Her boyfriend, in his twenties, confirms the facts, while claiming that the car he went to her house in belongs to one of his friends.

The gendarmes summon the friend who presents himself at the investigators’ office in the vehicle, who are faced with another case, as the vehicle papers have been falsified. The investigation also reveals that the girl’s parents were aware of the love relationship between their daughter and this young man and that they invented this kidnapping.

The parents are currently being prosecuted for false statements, while the young man has been held in pre-trial detention for abduction of a minor girl and his friend for complicity, forgery and use of forgery.
