Olympic Steeplechase Champion El Bakkali Skips World Indoor Athletics Championships

Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bekkali will be absent from the indoor athletics world championships to be held from March 18 to 20 in Belgrade.
Expected to compete in the 1,500m and 3,000m events, Soufiane El Bakkali is not among the athletes who will represent Morocco at the world championships, scheduled to take place in Belgrade, Serbia.
In the absence of Soufiane El Bakkali, the 8 athletes who will defend Morocco’s colors are Abdellatif Sediki (800 meters-1500 meters), Mouad Zahafi (800 meters) Abdellatif El Gass (1500 meters), Zouheir Talbi and Hicham Akankam (3000 meters), Mohamed Tindouft, Mohamed Fares and Abdelaati Iguidir (3000 meters).
