Olympic Champion El Bakkali Injured in Paris Diamond League Steeplechase Fall

Having gone to Paris to confirm his supremacy in the 3000m steeplechase, the Moroccan Olympic champion returns with an injury. Soufiane El Bakkali took a fall during the race and collapsed, screaming in pain.
The heavy fall of Soufiane El Bakkali occurred less than a minute after the start, depriving him of a medal in this Diamond League. It was on the very first hurdle that the Moroccan athlete stumbled and collapsed to the ground, holding his right thigh and crying out in pain.
The only Moroccan medalist at the Tokyo Olympics is said to have even been injured, according to some media. Finally, it was the Kenyan Benjamin Kigen, third in Tokyo, who, taking advantage of the absence of the favorite, won the race with a time of 8:07.12. The Moroccan Mohamed Tindouft finished the race in last position (8:46.82.)
