Olympic Champion El Bakkali Triumphs in Kenyan Steeplechase Showdown

After putting an end to the Kenyan hegemony in the 3,000m steeplechase, Moroccan Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali has just won in the same category by going to beat the Kenyan athletes on their own facilities. It was this Saturday at the Kip Keino Classic meeting in Nairobi.
A great revenge for the Moroccan athlete, Soufiane El Bakkali, who won the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday at the Kip Keino Classic meeting in Nairobi. This makes up for the missed appointment in Paris and the Diamond League trophy he was unable to win. He clocked 8:21.20, ahead of Kenyan Abraham Kibiwat (8:22.33) and Ethiopian Chala Beyo (8:23.37). The Kenyan, Benjamin Kigen, who had recently won the Diamond League, finished 6th (8:40.24), reports the MAP.
Soufiane El Bakkali was invited by the Kenyan Athletics Federation, which had insisted that the Moroccan Olympic champion participate in the race. He had to postpone his vacation to give himself a chance to establish his supremacy in the category. Mission accomplished for the athlete who has had a rather intense and fruitful season.
