Northern Morocco Police Launch Crackdown on Psychotropic Drug Networks

The Tetouan police prefecture wants to rid the city of drug traffickers this summer. In this context, it has launched a vast operation to dismantle the networks that engage in this type of trafficking in the peripheral neighborhoods of Martil, Fnideq or M’diq.
A summer without psychotropic drugs in the north of the country. This is the watchword launched by the Tetouan police prefecture which has deployed its agents in the districts of Fnideq and Mdiq in order to put an end to this fairly widespread traffic in the peripheral neighborhoods of these cities. Thus, the patrols have been intensified in these areas and have pushed the small dealers and members of the psychotropic and other drug trafficking networks to their last strongholds and to proceed with the arrest of some of them.
During this vast clean-up campaign, two young dealers (a young woman and her companion) were arrested while transporting a large quantity of psychotropic drugs and other hard drugs in their vehicle, reports the daily Al Akhbar. The drugs, as well as the vehicle, were seized by the police who are actively searching for a third person suspected of being their accomplice, and who would have taken refuge in Ceuta.
The two accused were placed in custody on the instructions of the public prosecutor. An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the King’s Prosecutor in order to identify the suppliers of the two dealers and to arrest any other members of the network.
The operation, launched at the beginning of this summer period, aims to dismantle not only trafficking networks, but also suppliers of psychotropic drugs and other types of drugs who set up their headquarters in this very touristy northern region during the summer vacation.
