Marrakech Police Crack Down on Drug Networks, Seize Large Quantities

The police have carried out in recent weeks a large-scale operation to dismantle drug trafficking networks in the city of Marrakech. Several traffickers were arrested and large quantities of drugs seized.
During the operation, the anti-drug brigade of the Marrakech police prefecture arrested in the Saâda district a very active trafficker in possession of a large quantity of hard drugs, including cocaine, reports the daily Assabah, adding that the accused was placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial.

A second trafficker was arrested by the anti-drug brigade in another district of the ochre city. The individual, a repeat offender well known to the brigade, was caught in the act of drug trafficking. The police searched his home and found nearly two kilograms of cannabis resin. Another trafficker was arrested on the spot for drug use.

The anti-drug brigade also arrested in flagrante delicto three other individuals in the old medina. They are accused of illegal sale of alcohol that they were trying to sell on the local market. They were placed in pre-trial detention, pending an investigation to elucidate this case and search for possible accomplices.
