Drug Baron Sofiane Hambli Faces Heavy Sentences in Moroccan Court

Sofiane Hambli, the French of Algerian origin arrested in a clinic in Tangier, Morocco in October, is facing Moroccan justice. He faces heavy sentences.
Presented before the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Rabat, the drug baron Sofiane Hambli is accused of international drug trafficking, smuggling, kidnapping and detention. His hearing, which began last Sunday, is ongoing. The one who is considered one of the biggest French drug traffickers risks heavy sentences, reports the site Al Oâmk.
On the run since last March, Sofiane Hambli, 46, had been arrested in a clinic in Tangier on October 22, 2021 where he was receiving treatment for injuries after being assaulted. Once healed, he was transferred from the Mohammed V regional hospital to the headquarters of the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) in Casablanca last Thursday, under heavy surveillance. The trafficker told investigators that organized gangs in the city of the Strait were helping him transport drugs to Europe.
