Northern Morocco Tourism Surges as Tangier Leads Growth

The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region recorded 15% tourism growth, with more than 3.69 million overnight stays through the end of November 2025. Tangier is strengthening its position as the regional leader, with an occupancy rate exceeding 54%.

According to data from the Tourism Observatory, the region captured 9.3% of the national market during the first eleven months of the year. This strong performance reflects the northern Kingdom’s growing appeal compared with the previous year.

The city of Tangier has emerged as the undisputed driver of this performance, recording 2.89 million overnight stays. Its 14% year-on-year growth and high occupancy rate highlight the success of local infrastructure in attracting growing international and domestic demand.

In November alone, the region’s classified establishments recorded nearly 250,000 overnight stays. Despite the start of the winter season, the sector maintained 3% growth, driven mainly by the resilience of the Tangier destination.

Overall activity posted an average occupancy rate of 48% across the regional territory. This rise confirms Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima as a strategic pillar of Morocco’s tourism economy, as the country prepares to enter 2026 with similar growth prospects.
