Tourism in Morocco: The French and Spanish at the top, here are the official figures
The Moroccan tourism sector is recording a strong performance for the year 2025, with 18 million arrivals recorded by the end of November. According to year-end estimates, an additional 1.8 million travelers were recorded during the month of December, bringing the total annual volume to nearly 20 million international tourists.
France remains the leading source market with 5.2 million arrivals, or a market share of 29%, recalls the newspaper L’Economiste. Spain ranks second with 4.1 million visitors (+13%), followed by the United Kingdom which recorded 1.2 million tourists, marking a 20% growth year-on-year. The North American markets are also continuing their growth thanks to the strengthening of long-haul connections.
Classified accommodation establishments totaled 39.8 million overnight stays in the first eleven months of the year, which represents a 9% increase compared to 2024. This trend confirms an extension of the length of stay in the main tourist areas of the Kingdom, supported by increased air connectivity.
Marrakech consolidates its position as the national leader with 12.4 million overnight stays recorded by the end of November, exceeding its previous annual record as early as the eleventh month of the fiscal year. The ochre city alone accounts for 31% of the country’s hotel activity, while Agadir shows 7.4 million overnight stays, up 11% over the same period.
Growth is also benefiting Casablanca, which recorded a 15% increase in its overnight stays to reach 2.8 million, driven by its role as an economic hub. Other destinations such as Essaouira and the province of Al Haouz maintain a positive momentum, with respective increases of 6% and 5% in their hotel attendance.
