National Strike Disrupts Brussels Airport: Over 200 Flights Canceled

All flights departing from Brussels Airport have been canceled due to the national demonstration organized by the CSC, FGTB and CGSLB unions this Monday, June 20, 2022 to preserve purchasing power. Flights to Morocco could be affected.
More than 70,000 people are expected in Brussels on Monday following the call for massive mobilization launched by the unions. The disruptions that this national demonstration could cause has forced Brussels Airport to cancel all scheduled flights departing from Brussels-National airport for "safety" reasons, reports Belga. "In total, 232 flights departing from Brussels Airport are canceled today, while one in four is operated, in the arrival direction," specifies the airport spokeswoman. Freight flights are however maintained. For its part, the airline TUI fly had to divert a large part of its flights to the regional airports of Ostend, Antwerp and Liège, and reschedule flights for Tuesday.
"The situation is calm in the Brussels Airport terminal this Monday morning," the spokeswoman said just before 7 a.m. "Quite a few travelers are clearly well aware that they should not come here." They are invited to contact their airline’s call center for a possible refund or rebooking.
