Muslim Scholar Leader Urges Opposition to Arab-Israeli Normalization

Ahmed Raïssouni, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (UIOM), calls on Muslim scholars to counter the normalization of diplomatic relations between Arab countries, including Morocco, and Israel.
This call was made during the opening session of the fourth general assembly of the Association of Palestinian Scholars Abroad. According to Mr. Raïssouni, the normalization of Arab countries with Israel constitutes a new blockade against the Palestinian people, who have always shown resistance. He called on scholars to oppose this normalization through awareness-raising and the firmness of their positions. He also stressed that the Palestinian cause must be at the forefront.
Speaking, the President of the Association of Palestinian Scholars Abroad, Nawaf Takrouri, welcomed the support provided by the Ulema of the nation to the Palestinian cause. According to him, this normalization must be "confronted" because "it is a duty". He stressed that the Arab peoples have no connection with the normalization decisions, as they have always supported the Palestinian cause.
Outgoing US President Donald Trump had signed, on December 10, a decree recognizing the Moroccanness of the Sahara in exchange for the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. This normalization continues to provoke strong reactions.
