Moroccans Protest Diplomatic Ties with Israel in Major Cities

Holding Palestinian emblems and flags, the protesters demonstrated against normalization with Israel. They chanted slogans hostile to the Israeli authorities. For them, "normalization is a betrayal". They defended the Palestinian cause and at the same time denounced the crimes committed by the Hebrew state in Palestine.

These new demonstrations took place following the visit of an American-Israeli delegation to Rabat, during which a tripartite declaration was signed. In total, four agreements were also signed between Morocco and the Hebrew state. These demonstrations also follow the announcement of the visit of an official Moroccan delegation to Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that it had been agreed that this visit would take place this week during the telephone conversation he had with King Mohammed VI last Friday.

The outgoing US President, Donald Trump, had signed a decree on December 10 recognizing the Moroccanness of the Sahara in exchange for the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. This normalization continues to provoke strong reactions.
