Moroccan Academics Petition Against Israel-Morocco Diplomatic Ties

The normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel is not to the liking of some Moroccan scientists and academics. They are the bearers and signatories of a petition.
More than 200 scientists, academics, politicians and lawyers are signatories of this petition, reports the Turkish news agency Anadolu. They condemn the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel.
According to the petitioners, "the religious scholars have concluded that any form of normalization with the Zionist entity is prohibited by religious law" and that any decision in this direction "thus constitutes a crime." "The Palestinian cause remains at the center of the concerns" of Moroccans, they assure.
The outgoing US President, Donald Trump, had signed a decree on December 10 recognizing the Moroccanness of the Sahara in exchange for the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. His main adviser, Jared Kushner, will travel to Morocco in the coming days aboard the first commercial flight from Tel Aviv to Rabat.
