Morocco’s Ziyech Eyes National Team Return After Year-Long Absence

After an absence lasting nearly a year, Hakim Ziyech, attacking midfielder for Al-Duhail SC, has a small chance of returning to the Moroccan national team.
Since his last call-up in September 2024 against Lesotho and Gabon, Hakim Ziyech (64 caps, 25 goals and 12 assists) has not played for the Moroccan national team due to increased competition, lack of playing time at Galatasaray, his tumultuous transfer to Al-Duhail club (Qatar) and a supposed falling out with Walid Regragui. So far, he has not delivered performances that could motivate his return to the Moroccan national team. However, an opportunity presents itself to the 31-year-old player, who now plays in the Qatari championship for Al-Duhail.
It is highly likely that he will participate in the Arab Nations Cup, where Morocco will send an A’ team. The Moroccan staff led by Tarik Sektioui is following his progress and is considering including him in their list, counting on his experience to strengthen their team, according to FRMF Xtra. If called up, this will be the last competition he will participate in wearing the Atlas Lions jersey. A last chance for Hakim?
