Serie A Clubs Eye Free Agent Hakim Ziyech After Qatar Stint

Several Serie A clubs are reportedly vying for Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan winger, without a club since leaving Al Duhail after only four months of collaboration, could join the Italian championship.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Bologna and Fiorentina have shown interest in Ziyech. The agent of the Moroccan midfielder has been contacted by technical directors from both Italian clubs, according to the same source.

The Moroccan international has been going through a rough patch for several months. Arriving at Al-Duhail in January from Galatasaray, the 32-year-old player failed to establish himself in the Qatari club. In nine league matches, he scored only one goal and provided one assist. These statistics did not convince the club’s management, who agreed with Ziyech to terminate his contract before the end of the season.

Out of form and sidelined by his coach at Galatasaray, whom he had openly criticized, the former Chelsea and Ajax Amsterdam player had expressed his desire to leave the Turkish club. "I don’t want to play here anymore. I’m leaving in January. I’ve never seen such a bad coach," he declared last December.

Ziyech hopes to quickly revive his career to make his return to the Moroccan national team. Walid Regragui, the coach of the Atlas Lions, is closely monitoring the player’s situation and is waiting for him to regain his best level and consistency before calling him up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to take place in Morocco.
