Morocco Coach Sets Performance Criteria for Ziyech’s National Team Return

After an absence lasting nearly a year, is Ziyech soon to return to the national team? Walid Regragui does not rule out this possibility. However, he conditions the return of the Al-Duhail SC offensive midfielder on his physical condition, not the player’s history or popularity. Between injury, lack of form, then a tumultuous transfer to Al-Duhail club in Qatar, Ziyech has had an up-and-down season. So far, he has not delivered impressive performances that could motivate his return to the Moroccan national team. However, the technical staff is closely monitoring his current progress and he could be evaluated during the next gathering in June, according to well-informed sources.

The June gathering is part of the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. During this training camp, the Atlas Lions will face Tunisia and Benin in two friendly matches. For now, the stadiums that will host these matches have not yet been determined due to the delay in construction work at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.
