Morocco Wedding Fire: Fireworks Spark Panic in Tangier
The celebration almost turned into a tragedy this Saturday in Tangier. Fireworks fired during a wedding procession sparked a raging fire in the Ben Dibane neighborhood, causing panic just a few meters from the Child Protection Center.
It took the intervention of civil protection to bring the flames under control as they rapidly spread across the vacant lot. According to witnesses, without their swift arrival, the fire could have reached nearby homes and caused a genuine catastrophe.

More than a mere accident, this fire is the latest in a long series exasperating Tangier residents. The reckless use of fireworks during celebrations has become a constant source of tension, with several fires reportedly breaking out in recent weeks, particularly during the summer holidays.

Faced with this phenomenon, which threatens to spread to nearby forested areas, residents’ patience is wearing thin. An increasing number of voices are calling on the authorities to strictly regulate these practices and impose deterrent penalties to put an end to this dangerous tradition.
