Lavish Wedding Ban Near Tetouan Sparks Controversy: Authorities Crackdown on Extravagant Celebrations

Fearing a similar scenario to the sumptuous wedding of the drug trafficker named Moussa in Nador, the services of the Ministry of the Interior in M’diq have prohibited the organization of a grandiose wedding in a villa near Tetouan. The family concerned, that of a well-known local notable, threatens to take legal action.
The sumptuous wedding that the family of a well-known notable was organizing in a villa near Tetouan no longer took place due to a decision of prohibition taken by the services of the Ministry of the Interior in M’diq. This administrative decision follows the receipt of several intelligence reports indicating the participation of famous singers, influential personalities and notables from the northern region, reports Al Akhbar. The authorities fear the organization of spectacular weddings in the image of the scandal of the wedding of the drug trafficker named Moussa in Nador, which caused the fall of senior officials of the Royal Gendarmerie.
Several violations, including the illegal transformation of private property into a banquet hall, the installation of giant marquees and the setting up of equipment for large-scale ceremonies, without any prior authorization and outside the legal framework, have prompted the authorities to take this administrative decision. This was transmitted in writing to the representative of the villa owner. Even the presence of a lawyer from the Tetouan bar and a bailiff who came to ascertain the facts did not convince the local authorities. They demanded the immediate dismantling of the installations, going so far as to threaten to seize the equipment in case of refusal.
Some intermediaries have undertaken mediation. Without success. Even the organizers’ proposal to reduce the scale of the party, limit the number of artists and guests, and give up the fireworks or shotgun fire, practices sometimes observed at high-end weddings in the north of the kingdom, did not receive the approval of the authorities. On the side of the notable’s family, it is discontent. They threaten to take legal action and demand several million dirhams in compensation for the breach of contracts with renowned artists, caterers and specialized companies.
