“Backward Moroccan”: Employee Accuses Netanyahu’s Wife of Humiliating Him

Rami Ben Hamo has taken the Prime Minister’s Office to the Jerusalem Regional Labor Court. He is seeking 450,000 shekels, or nearly 130,000 euros, for the treatment he claims to have suffered at Benjamin Netanyahu’s official residence.

Employed by the prime minister’s services for more than ten years, he worked directly at the residence between March 2023 and December 2025. His complaint, detailed by Ynet, refers to shouting, insults and almost daily humiliation.

One of the incidents allegedly began with a poorly folded plastic bag. Sara Netanyahu allegedly told him: “My children fold better than you,” followed by: “You are a backward Moroccan.” Ben Hamo says that this contemptuous reference to his Moroccan background was repeated and that he sometimes cried while asking her to stop.

The employee also claims that he was instructed to clean Sara Netanyahu’s personal bag and the soles of her shoes with wipes. She allegedly made him wash his hands more than ten times a day and regularly accused him of not knowing how to clean.

His days could begin around 7:30 a.m. and end in the middle of the night. Ben Hamo estimates that he worked between 60 and 80 hours of overtime per month. As someone who observes Shabbat, he was allegedly sometimes kept at work after sunset on Friday or called back on Saturday evening to wash dishes.

He continues working after a heart problem

In February 2025, Ben Hamo allegedly felt severe chest pain while on duty. Taken to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus, he reportedly underwent catheterization. According to his complaint, his working conditions deteriorated further after the procedure.

Sara Netanyahu allegedly told him, among other things: “Let them find someone else to replace you,” “You are blind,” and “You don’t know how to wash a floor.” The employee says he asked several times to be transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office, but his supervisors allegedly told him to wait because there was no replacement.

The breakdown allegedly came during another incident involving plastic bags. Unhappy with how they had been stored, Sara Netanyahu allegedly threw them on the floor, forcing Ben Hamo to pick them up on his knees. At the end of his rope, he allegedly said: “May God make me leave this job already.”

Sara Netanyahu allegedly understood that he wanted her dead and told her husband that he had said: “May God take her.” When Benjamin Netanyahu arrived, Ben Hamo allegedly tried to explain that he was referring only to his job. The prime minister nevertheless allegedly asked him to leave the residence.

When he subsequently formally requested his departure, Ben Hamo allegedly wrote that his decision was motivated by Sara Netanyahu’s shouting. A female official allegedly rejected this wording and asked him to cite only “personal reasons.”

Of the 450,000 shekels claimed, 400,000 correspond to the alleged moral damage, workplace harassment and psychological distress. The remaining 50,000 concern possible violations of Israeli legislation on working hours and rest.

Netanyahu’s entourage rejects the accusations. In a response quoted by the Times of Israel, the family denounced “fake news” intended to harm the prime minister before the elections.

Other former employees of the official residence have already initiated proceedings against the prime minister’s services, and some have received compensation. Ben Hamo’s claims nevertheless remain, at this stage, those contained in his complaint: the court has not yet ruled on their validity.
