Morocco Corruption Scandal: Driver Bribery 200000 Dirhams

Zakia Driouich reportedly decided to remove her driver following the revelation of a complaint filed with the prosecutor’s office on July 14. The document also targets her brother and an employee of a professional association in the fishing sector.

According to Alyaoum24, an investor claims to have requested in 2024 an authorization to rebuild and renovate the line fishing vessel "Jebou Allah," registered with the maritime fisheries services in Agadir.

As part of the follow-up to his file, he was allegedly contacted by a man presenting himself as the Secretary of State’s driver. The latter allegedly invited him to the Halieutis trade show and gave him an access badge in his name.

The investor claims to have been received on this occasion by the Secretary of State, who allegedly asked him to provide the necessary documents for processing his request. He asserts that he subsequently submitted all required documents.

Alleged payments without authorization

The driver allegedly later demanded money from him, promising to expedite the examination of his file. The complainant claims to have handed over 200,000 dirhams at his home located in Salé.

An employee of a professional fishing association allegedly also received 40,000 dirhams to intervene in the procedure. The Secretary of State’s brother allegedly requested 120,000 dirhams in exchange for his alleged assistance.

The complaint concerns suspicions of fraud, scam and influence peddling. The complainant says he has audio recordings, emails, correspondence and documents to support his accusations.

He claims to have obtained no authorization despite the sums paid and never recovered his money.
